Diane Fisher, the owner of McLean Eclips Salons & Day Spas, has built her successful salon chain on a belief in treating employees like family, creating a positive energy that radiates from staff to clients. This approach to business follows the old saying: "do unto others as you want done unto you". Dianes belief in the importance of employee growth and individual client understanding, has led to the success and retention of their clientele through word-of-mouth promotion. Eclips Salon & Day Spa was first launched in McLean, VA, in June 1988 marking the inception of the Eclips chain of salons and day spas. The expansion of Eclips has since taken it to various locations with a second establishment opened in Burke a year later, then in Ashburn, VA, in August 2000; a third innovative outlet, Eclips Kids Salon & Day Spa was added in McLean, in 2001. In 2005, the adult salon in McLean moved into a larger location, setting a new luxury standard for salons and spas in the Northern Virginia area. The successful Kids' salon concept led to the launch of the fourth location in Ashburn in May 2006. Eclips Salons & Day Spas, as full-service establishments, cater to a wide range of client needs offering complete hair and nail services, total makeovers, as well as numerous luxury spa services. They continually update their service offerings, now including medical spa services such as laser hair removal, cellulite reduction therapies, and microdermabrasion. In committing to their staff welfare, Eclips provides numerous benefits including paid vacation, retirement plans, health insurance, advanced educational opportunities and stock options. It even offers the unique opportunity for staff to invest and become co-owners of Eclips. This all round dedication to their staff has helped create a more unified team, thus ensuring better management, smoother operations and long-term staff retention. Eclips salons and spas also invest in staff training, sending their receptionists and managers to various training seminars, encouraging meetings in which all topics ranging from homeowning to nutrition can be discussed, and having apprenticeships for assistants who wish to become hairstylists. They have gained recognition in national and international media, being featured in InStyle Magazine among others and ranked one of the 'Top 200 Salons & Day Spas In The USA!' by Salon Today Magazine six years in a row. In addition, Eclips stands strongly in their contribution to charity, participating in two to five charitable events each year, making regular donations to the St. Judes Foundation as well as The Women's Shelter of Homeless & Battered Women. Diane Fisher, whose career started as a receptionist in Flashback Salon, Burke, Virginia in 1974, was managing the salon as it expanded to multiple locations including a distribution division. Not originally planning to own her own salon, Fisher, driven by a desire to help her fellow hairstylists, made the decision to purchase the struggling business at its McLean location in 1988. From then onwards, under the new name, Eclips, Diane has shaped the salon into a thriving business demonstrating growth, staff dedication, and strong support for the community.
