Established in 1965 by Dannie & Opal Slavin, the Family Hobby Center has remained a family owned and operated business throughout its vibrant 47-years of operation in Naples. As stewards and observers of the propulsive advancements in technology, the business has evolved - from the era of escapement and reed radios to the age of new Spread Spektrum technology. Today, customers get to enjoy even better technology at comparatively lower prices. The business was acquired in 1982 by Carey and Kathy; with Carey leveraging his mechanical inclinations, honed from a life brought up in the store, the couple have robustly led the business. Kathy, despite initially marrying into arts & crafts, has amassed over 30 years of practical knowledge in art supplies and craft products. Currently, Amy, another store-raised family member, spearheads the shops digital upgrade whilst ensuring that the familiar, small-town friendliness of Naples doesn't erode away from Family Hobby Center.
